Can I enter the country without a visa?

Third-country nationals or stateless persons legally residing in Ukraine before 24 February 2022 as beneficiaries of international protection status or equivalent national protection may enter into Greece.

If you have a biometric passport, then you can enter Greece from all points of entry (land and air). Otherwise, you will need to apply for a transit visa.

Can I get refugee status in the country?

In Greece, the following categories are not eligible for temporary protection but can apply for international protection (asylum):

Anybody who fled Ukraine before 26 November 2021.

  • Third country nationals or stateless persons residing in Ukraine with permanent residence permits before 24 February who cannot safely return to their country of origin.
How long can I stay in the country?

Individuals are entitled to stay in Greece for 90 days, starting from the day of their entry into Greece.

Individuals recognised as refugees are granted a 1-year residence permit, which can be renewed.
