Where can I go to get emergency health care and how much it costs? Do I need certain documents?

If you do not have health insurance but find yourself in medical emergency, services for Ukrainian citizens will be provided free of charge. The emergency number is 112.

Can I talk to a doctor in Ukrainian/Russian?

Almost all doctors speak Lithuanian. Some doctors speak Russian, but we can not give specific contacts.

Where can I go to fill my subscriptions or treat long-term conditions and how much it costs?

If you were treated at a hospital, the necessary medication and healthcare services will be provided by the physician, providing the treatment. In other cases, prescription for outpatient treatment can be prescribed by the physician, providing the treatment.

You can get medicine at a pharmacy with a prescription issued by th general practitioner. If you are registered at the registration centre, all prescription medicine will be provided free of charge. Reimbursable medical aids at the pharmacy are provided only for persons, covered by the compulsory health insurance. They also require a prescription from a physician.

I am pregnant, where can I get gynecology care?

Pregnant is eligible to pregnancy care services. Contact general practitioner. If your labour has started, immediately call 112.

Can I benefit from public health care?

There are two types on health insurance in Lithuania โ€“ public and private. Once in Vilnius, if you have applied for an asylum or have gotten a temporary residence permit to live in Lithuania as a Ukrainian citizen, you will be covered by a public insurance. If you find a job, you will also contribute towards health insurance through tax and will be covered automatically. If you are not seeking asylum, have not registered for residency permit for Ukrainians and do not yet have a job, you will have to purchase private insurance.

What does public healthcare cover?

Public insurance covers general practice services at medical institutions that have signed an agreement with territorial health insurance fund.

Emergency medical care includes emergency medical care, pregnancy care, help with childbirth and other essential health services. You can also get essential prescription medicines. To get a prescription, go to any medical facility. More information here .

Free emotional support in Russian language is available by calling 1809, the line is open Monday-Friday 6 p.m.โ€“9 p.m., Saturday-Sunday 12 p.m.โ€“3 p.m.

manodaktaras.lt online platform also offers free access to video consultations for adults and children, provided by psychologists and psychotherapists.

If you have health insurance you can also visit any health care centre, which offers this type of support covered by health insurance funds.

A group of Lithuanian psychologists, psychotherapists and psychiatrists have launched an initiative to provide critical psychological assistance to Ukrainian citizens in warzones. The National Psychological Association of Ukraine, with the support of the UN, the EU launched a free support line. Anyone affected by the hostilities can call the line. All the psychologists have undergone special training, provide counseling according to international standards and adhere to ethical standards.

Call +370 800 00 414, which is available daily from 10:00 to 20:00. All calls are free of charge.

The hotline administrator will accept your request, determine a convenient format and time, and direct you to a free psychologist. You will be offered audio or video sessions lasting up to 50 minutes.
