What documents do I need to work in this country?

Temporary protection status holders are allowed to work once they have applied for a residence permit at the municipal administration (town hall) and received a temporary document (Annex 15).

Once you are granted the A-card, you do not need additional permission to work in Belgium.

To work as a self-employed person, you must apply for a self-employed permit.

The minimum gross monthly salary in the case of a full-time job is currently in the amount of EUR 1.691,40 (this amount should be reduced by the taxes depending on the personal situation). This amount is applicable for people of at least 18 years old, working 38 hours a week.

Are there any diploma and professional equivalence programs? How and where do I apply?

Process of official recognition of Ukrainian diploma or professional qualification is carried out by National Academic Recognition Information Centre (NARIC).

There are different equivalence programmes. The applicable procedure and requirements vary depending on the authority with which an equivalence request is lodged: the French Community, the Flemish Community or the German-speaking Community.
