Do I need to register in order to obtain health coverage and if yes how?

No. When applying for temporary protection you will receive a CPR-number which grants you access to the health care system.

What does public healthcare cover?

Health care covers most things such as doctors in general practice, hospital, special doctors, surgery, ambulance, partially supported physiotherapy etc.

Dental care is not included. Private insurance is available but not very common. Less than 50% of Danes have private health insurance because of the public health care system. The leading private health care is the insurance called โ€œDanmarkโ€ which cost 380 DKK quarterly. The insurance covers things such as dental-treatment, glasses and physiotherapy.

Mental health support is included in the public health care and is therefore free. You need reference from your general practice doctor to be treated at special clinics. You can search for psychologists with provider numbers using this website to find a psychologist in your area, see wait times, methods and specializations. Unfortunately, the website is not available in English. And thereโ€™s often a wait time if youโ€™re looking for a psychologist on the public scheme. Check sundhed.dk for further options.

In the Capital Region of Denmark you can recieve free of charge counseling and information regarding mental health services via phonenumber: +45 3864 1300.

The National Psychological Association of Ukraine, with the support of the UN, the EU launched a free support line. Anyone affected by the hostilities can call the line. All the psychologists have undergone special training, provide counseling according to international standards and adhere to ethical standards.

Call +45 80 82 08 61;, which is available daily from 10:00 to 20:00. All calls are free of charge.

The hotline administrator will accept your request, determine a convenient format and time, and direct you to a free psychologist. You will be offered audio or video sessions lasting up to 50 minutes.
