If you have a medical card from the Madrid community, you can check the price you have to pay for your medicine at this link . If you do not yet have an NIE (foreigner's identification number), you can access free medical care, but you do not have pharmaceutical coverage. In this case, you will have to pay the full amount of medication you need. When it comes to over-the-counter medications, you should always pay the full cost of the medication.

You can get a free access to gynecology care by registering in the public healthcare system. You need to register with a local midwife (matrona) in your local health center. They will provide consultations during pregnancy and if needed will refer to a specialist.

Yes. Spain has a universal healthcare system which is free of charge. You may also obtain private medical care at an additional cost.

The Madrid Region has established a protocol to assist Ukrainian displaced people upon arrival. You can go to Zendal Hospital (Address: Av. Manuel Fraga Iribarne, 2, 28055 Madrid) for medical examination at any time (it is open 24 h). In that Hospital you can have access to COVID diagnostic tests as well as to COVID vaccines. First you need to get temporary protection in Spain. We recommend that you contact one of the centers CREADE for help.

To receive medical care, you must register with the medical center. This will require a passport and address of residence. During the validity of your temporary registration, you will be assigned a family doctor and pediatrician for children.

If you have registered and obtained a NIE, you need to formalize a permanent medical card: contact the medical center with a certificate of registration or confirmation of approval of your application and request a document. A health care card obtained in any municipality is valid throughout Spain.

Free care includes prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation as well as ambulance transport in case you need it. You are entitled to a wide range of care, excluding – with some exceptions – those related to dental care, opticians or cosmetic treatments.

Mental health is included in the public healthcare system. The services include both diagnosis and treatment. However, you should take into account that the public mental health service may take time to be accessed as funds are limited and the service is overstretched.

Also in Spain, a camp was organized for Ukrainian children affected by the war.

The organizers of the camp accept children with moral disorders for psychological rehabilitation. The location where Gen.Camp is located is a quiet resort in the east of Spain. First of all, psychological help is provided to children who have lost one or both parents, were in occupation or witnessed war crimes with their own eyes.

During 30 days of rehabilitation, children receive various types of therapy:

• cognitive-behavioral
• art
• communication with animals
• individual program with the Tomatis device

Both individual and group classes are practiced. The condition of each child is monitored by individual psychologists.

The National Psychological Association of Ukraine, with the support of the UN, the EU launched a free support line. Anyone affected by the hostilities can call the line. All the psychologists have undergone special training, provide counseling according to international standards and adhere to ethical standards.
