What childcare options are available for children who are not yet school-aged?

Your children have the right to education under the same conditions as Croatian citizens.

To enrol young children into a nursery, it is necessary to address the nurseries or kindergartens directly. Principal of the nursery/kindergarten will give you information on capacities and conditions of enrolment into a nursery/kindergarten.

How do I enroll my child(ren) into school?

Your children have the right to education under the same conditions as Croatian citizens. Primary education is compulsory in the Republic of Croatia.

To enroll your child in primary school (in Croatia from 1st to 8th grade), you should contact the nearest primary school. Pedagogical staff will talk to you and determine which class the child should be enrolled in.

The school will provide textbooks and organize preparatory courses in the Croatian language for all students. If you have documents about your previous education, be sure to bring them with you. List of primary schools mceclip0.png.

How can I enroll my child in a Ukrainian school in first grade if we are abroad?

Documents for admission to the school can be submitted online on the website "Electronic registration in institutions of general secondary education" at the link mceclip0.png. To do this, you need to register on the site, choose an institution of general secondary education, create an application and confirm it with documents in the institution

Electronic registration is not available in Kyiv, but it is possible to submit an application online to the school's e-mail address (at the applicant's choice). Enrollment will be carried out on the basis of the application of one of the parents, submitted in person or scanned copies or photocopies. Documents must confirm the place of residence of the child, one of his parents (or people who replace them) in the territory of the institution. If parents do not have the opportunity to obtain a medical certificate for their child by May 31, this is not a reason to refuse enrollment. What happens if my kid gets sick?

In case of minor health problems, contact a doctor at the nearest polyclinic, who will examine you and write a prescription, on the basis of which you will receive medicine at the pharmacy. If necessary, you will be referred for examination by a specialist or for inpatient treatment. To exercise your right to health care, always carry the Certificate of a foreigner who has been granted temporary protection!

Can I continue my university studies at another university? What documents do I need?

Ukrainian students, as persons under temporary protection, have the same rights in the field of education as Croatian students. Therefore, you have the right to continue obtaining higher education, and decisions on enrollment are made at the relevant faculties, taking into account the availability of free places and other criteria.

What languages do I need to speak to be able to study?

Education in all universities of Croatia in the Croatian language. Some programs may be in English.
